On May 27, prior to the 4th General Meeting of the Executive Committee for the 25th National Culture Festival, Okayama Prefecture, a naming and unveiling ceremony for the new Okayama Prefecture mascot was held in Okayama City. After a prize certificate and catalogue of prize goods were handed over from Governor Ishii to the winners of the Grand Prize and Prize for Excellence chosen from the applicants, the new Okayama Prefecture mascot “Uracchi” was unveiled. |

On May 27, the 4th General Meeting of the Executive Committee for the 25th National Culture Festival, Okayama Prefecture of October 30 to November 7 this year was held in Okayama City. In this general meeting, reports were given on last fiscal year’s activities, approvals for such proposals as this fiscal year’s event planning and revenue budget, and the state of preparations. Also, after the close of proceedings, there was a dance performance by TH@nks (thanks), the “Great! Okayama Culture Festival” promotions group. |

On May 22, the opening ceremony for the “Hometown Development Momotaro Cram School” which fosters leaders of regional development was held in the Okayama Prefecture Lifelong Learning Center in Ishima-cho, Kita-ku, Okayama City. Governor Ishii, as the head of the school, presented the new students with admission certificates. This fiscal year which marks the 14th set of graduates of the “Hometown Development Momotaro Cram School”, 25 males and 11 females totaling 36 students were admitted. They will spend one year until March next year involved in basic lectures and group research. |

On May 22, the second Aozora Governor’s Office was held in the Okayama Prefecture Lifelong Learning Center in Ishima-cho, Kita-ku, Okayama City. Governor Ishii had an exchange of opinions regarding “Developing the Region, Developing People” with the 14th set of graduates from the “Hometown Development Momotaro Cram School” which fosters leaders of regional development. The students stated their passionate opinions, such as “We need regional development that emphasizes Okayama’s unique characteristics”, and “I’d like to widen the circle of people involved, so that we can really feel the benefits of regional development”. |

On May 17, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Wholesale Market, initial auctions of Okayama Prefecture’s Muscat grapes took place. Before the bidding, Governor Ishii did some PR for prefectural produce of Muscat grapes as well as Pione grapes and Shine Muscat grapes and white peaches in front of market participants, and boosted the profile of “Okayama, the Fruit Kingdom”. | |
